John Hutchins is a seasoned construction materials expert with nearly 30 years’ experience. He is a small business owner with extensive experience in epoxy, floor coatings, and concrete. For Blue Venture Advisors, as our Strategic Advisor of Construction M&A, he advises on our Private Equity Business Line for construction related M&A transactions. He is a US Air Force veteran who worked as part of our nuclear deterrence force on the Minuteman II missile system and now holds the rating of Service-Disabled Veteran Owned Business (SDVOSB). His business career started at the age of 13 and he has been a serial entrepreneur with ventures concentrating on the concrete and construction materials business since 2006. John has started and exited businesses twice in 2017 and 2023, and he leverages his M&A experience for the Blue Venture team. For the past 30 years, John’s business has evolved from working to add concrete enhancement in 2007 with floor coatings, to developing floor coatings in 2012, and he began selling equipment and epoxy type products for floor coatings in 2012. Since then, he has developed distribution and training for more than 150 small business owners to expand his national distribution. He is a frequent sponsor of large construction conventions such as World of Concrete, held annually in Las Vegas. John holds a Bachelor’s degree from Kansas State University and completed a course of study at the Community College of the Air Force. John advises at Blue Venture’s Kansas City, MO headquarters.
